If you want to learn in detail the learning method used is as important as the time you spend on learning.

Learning in detail versus learning superficial

Everaert, P., Opdecam, E., & Maussen, S. (2017). The relationship between motivation, learning approaches, academic performance and time spent. Accounting Education,26(1), 78-107.

Higher education made a fundamental shift in recent years - especially the courses taught at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The shift is partly due to the change in requirements for the labour market. To meet the present-day requirements employees have to master a range of skills and competences on top of the theoretical knowledge.

To fulfil the requirements students do not only have to able to learn by heart several formulas and facts from their courses. During the education at the university they have to adopt certain techniques and skills.

This evolution exposes the discrepancy between two different learning approaches: Learning in detail versus learning superficial.
