Research visit Nick Mcguigan

Our Accounting Education Research Group had the honor to welcome Prof. Dr. Nick McGuigan (Monash University) for a two day research visit.

Nick McGuigan is an award-winning educator who works as an innovator, instigator and disruptor in Monash Business School to create future­‐oriented business education programs that focus on innovation, creativity and design thinking. He is a Professor of Accounting and Director of Equity, Diversity and Social Inclusion at Monash University, Australia and Professor of Accounting at Rostock University, Germany. Nick is directly involved in applied research, focusing on the enhancement of educational programs of accountants and business professionals.

Nick is passionate about accountability where he co-­instigated The Accountability Institute ‐ a progressive platform with an aim of fostering collaborations between art, science, technology and economics, bringing these fields into conversation to create a new language of accountability. Projects have included an Artist-­In-Residence program, the world’s first ever accounting perfume and the creative Queering Accounting.

Many inspiring research conversations took place during this two-day research visit. Our PhD students had the opportunity to have a one-on-one talk with Prof. dr. Nick McGuigan. In addition, Nick himself gave a really interesting research seminar on “Designing for Complexity: The Future of Business & Education”.
